Meet Kid Keen!
Kid Keen is a queer, half-Hawaiian, singer-songwriter known for exploring themes of dating and existing as a trans lesbian in modern times.
An award-winning photographer, she has a plethora of experience moving people with with her art. Now as a seasoned singer and songwriter, she aims to bridge the divide of understanding between queer and non-queer people.
Keen's music is known for raw, unfiltered vulnerability. Featuring the ugly truths and anxiety of dating as a trans woman ("Feathered Body"), lesbian love ("Moon Goddess"), and commentary on societal expectations of trans women all wrapped up in a catchy, ethereal, package. Her music ranges from contemporary pop, to indie rock, to rock resonating with the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
Raised in Iowa, Keen graduated early at the height of the pandemic to play soccer on a scholarship. Dropping out after the first year due to depression and long-standing gender questions, she took a two year long hiatus learning to accept herself using music as a tool for emotional release and as a way to process her feelings.
Through it all, her tone remains remarkably uplifting and forward-facing, even transforming her stage name "Kid Keen" into her biggest message and personal motto "Stay Keen!"
Whether you're someone looking to relate to, learn from, sing with, or dance with, Keen's message, melodies, and vocals are sure to keep you hooked!
